What the fee actually covers
Institutions advertise tuition. You pay tuition plus everything else. Here is everything else, so you can ask for it in writing before you enrol.
The charges that are usually left out
A one-time charge at admission, separate from tuition. Small but rarely mentioned in the headline figure.
Charged per semester, so multiply by four for a two-year programme. Re-attempts are charged again.
Payable at the start of year two in many programmes. Catches people who budgeted only for year one.
Issuing the document you actually came for. Ask what it costs before you enrol, not after.
Sometimes optional, sometimes not. Ask which.
Bundled in some programmes, charged separately in others. The difference can be several thousand rupees.
The question that settles it
Ask the institution one question in writing: “What is the total amount I will pay from admission to receiving my certificate, including all charges?” A straight answer is a good sign about far more than the fee. An evasive one tells you something too.
Why this drives the fee-honesty grade
A programme that answers that question plainly scores well. One that quotes per semester and reveals the rest later scores badly, however good the teaching is. See the method →
